Facilities Engineer
- TX
PURPOSE:
Ensures that facility and equipment is maintained to meet overall
production objectives and to maximize utilization. Ensures equipment and
office layouts meet safety and ergonomic requirements.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5
years diverse manufacturing experience such as Industrial Engineering,
Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities Planning, etc. Shop floor
production experience in assembly, machining, welding, fabrication, or
equipment maintenance is preferred. Experience with
air-conditioning design and repair preferred. Must have
experience with preventive maintenance programs for machine tools,
large mechanical equipment and overhead cranes.
- Strong
organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Working
knowledge of PC spreadsheets and word-processing software.
- Supervisory
or project leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is
preferred.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Facilities Management System software and AutoCAD and other computer
systems and applications that are used to make manufacturing / facilities
management decisions. Budgeting & Expense Control, Financial
Measurements and application to manufacturing management. Team building
skills in a mixed-skills organizational unit. Safety, Quality and
Environmental compliance requirements.
SUPERVISES:
One Facilities Maintenance Electrician. One Facilities Maintenance
Technician.
Outside contractors, janitorial and temporary laborers
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direction of the Manufacturing Manager, responsible for maintenance
of complete building facility. Recommendations affect plant and equipment
utilization and improvement and security of property and equipment.
Oversees construction projects.
Responsible for inventory of electrical supplies with an annual value of
$150K.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works with all levels of employee, with multiple and changing priorities
and deadlines. Some exposure to high noise levels, chemicals and acids.
Spends at least 50% of time in shop environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Maintains
building and grounds facilities using applicable resources and
equipment.
- Evaluates
and recommends all facility-related contractors including janitorial,
grounds maintenance, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and
heating contractors. Administers contracts, ensuring that the company
is receiving quality service & prices according to the contract.
Resolves any discrepancies with contractor.
- Plans,
directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design,
construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery
within the plant.
- Establishes
standards and policies for pollution control, installation,
modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure,
inspection, and maintenances of equipment according to engineering
principles and safety regulations.
- Directs
maintenance of plant buildings and coordinates requirements for new
designs, surveys, and maintenance schedules for equipment and
machinery.
- Prepares
authorization for expenditures and contracts for construction and
facilities acquisition.
- Recommends
equipment and services purchases to improve operating efficiencies and
provides justification required. Conducts comprehensive studies to
analyze and improve plant space utilization, maintenance, cost data,
utility conservation and departmental effectiveness.
- Provides
leadership in achieving safety goals. Ensures on-going safety
awareness for facilities department and ensures that various
environmental and safety regulatory requirements are met.
- Maintains
facility engineering drawings.
- Oversees
new construction projects. Ensures that contractors are performing
work that is timely and meets specifications. Ensures that invoices
for work and materials are in accordance with the contract. Resolves
any problems with contractor or material supplier.
